ARTIVI2M - Venice | Biennale | Shim Eco

  • centro espositivo San Vidal Campo San Zaccaria Venezia, Veneto, 30122 Italy (map)

SHIM Eco is hosting a group exhibition at the historic Centro Espositivo San Vidal in Venice, Italy during the biennale in the summer of 2022. The history of this location can be found HERE. Artists are coming together from many points around the world to participate. Works of all sizes will be on view with a wide variety of techniques.

In addition, several groups of artists will be represented through collaborative “exquisite corpse” projects. Each “corpse” will have a grid of 40 independent artist works that come together to form a unified piece. Groups from SHIM Art Network that will be participating in the collaborative works include: SHIM/ArtCard, Vox Populi Print Collective, Bushwick Community Dark Room and Printmakers - Mezzotint.

Networking with artists from around the world provides a fertile platform for artists to learn from each other and expand their reach. Artists become empowered through opportunities like this to help each other and creatively expand our exhibition footprint.

SHIM/ArtCard Exquisite Corpse

Just one of the five exquisite corpse projects on view in Venice will be from a newly formed SHIM Art Network group called SHIM/ArtCard. This group will be dedicated to bringing high quality, small works around the globe. The beauty of creating, packing and shipping works that are no larger than 6 x 8 inches is undeniable! In Venice we present a printed version of this collaborative project. The original work together with the other 4 corpses will be on view at Jill Krutick Fine Art in Mamaroneck, New York in September 2022.

Water Tiger 3 & 4, 2022 by Jill Krutick

Jill Krutick is one of the many artists participating in Venice and she will be exhibiting a diptych, Water Tiger 3 & 4, 2002. Water Tiger is an eco-based themed painting that explores the use of texture, form and color to examine the eco-challenges facing our sea. A complex interplay of watercolor, oil paint, and acrylic mediums, together with various paper collage and plastic materials help tell the story. We examine the open, fluid, and reflective effects of water -- as well as the debris that clutters it.
